CIHRTeamSV: Boy’s and Men’s Health (#CIHRTeamSV)

Our CIHR Team group has been looking to fill in the gaps on the issue of gender-based violence, as less attention in research and in clinic practice and advocacy has occurred for male victims. Males are at risk in certain contexts, such as gangs, war, street-living, with potential trauma links to higher rates of violence, suicide and substance abuse. #CIHRTeamSV contributes to the literature on youth health, looking into collegiate health and resilience, sexual minority youth, high school youth, child welfare-involved youth, and street-involved youth, with projects developing with youth who contact national helplines and youth who receive services in child and youth advocacy centres. We are focusing on trauma-informed intervention innovations in targeting adolescent dating violence, trauma symptomatology, substance use, and relationship/interpersonal resilience.
